The 16th World rabies day :”one health, zero death”

2022.09.28

Rabies is still rampant, remains one of the neglected tropical zoonotic diseases in Africa and Asia.

Vaccination of dogs and wildlife contributed to a successful control of rabies in many countries but it’s still widespread in Africa and Asia that register 95% of fatal human cases.

Rabies is transmitted to a person through the bite of an infected animal, mostly those warm blooded. Then the rabies virus attacks the central nervous system with no cure currently.

Normally infected dogs account for up to 99% of human transmission. Their vaccination is the most effective strategy to prevent and control the disease.

Pulike Chief Scientist Dr Tian Ke Gong propose in Chinese People's Congress:China could increases free veterinary rabies vaccination to change the situation that "dogs infected and people vaccinated" and implements the management standard for compulsory vaccination against veterinary rabies.

Pulike will soon launch the inactivated rabies vaccine (r3G strain)

Key Feature

  • The use of reverse genetics technology to obtain recombinant rabies virus (r3G strain) carrying the 3G gene as the production strain, which has 2 to 2.5 times more immunogenic genes than the traditional vaccine strain, increasing immunogenicity by 2 to 2.5 times.
  • The virus proliferation efficiency is increased by 10 times by using the suspension culture process.
  • The use of inactivated β-propiolactone, which is less toxic and has no residual effects, effectively reduces the irritation of the vaccine to the vaccination site and reduces the rate of side reactions.
